This San Marcos, California wedding was an absolute dream way to end my 2019 season. These two had been married for two years prior to their actual celebration due to Kristi’s indifference to a big wedding and opted for a simple Justice of the Peace commitment. Following their 2018 commitment, Clayton was deployed at the beginning of 2019 with his service in the Marine Corps. This was a super exciting wedding for me prior to their big day. I actually attended college with Clayton & Kristi trusted her hubby enough to find their most perfect photographer—so so glad Clayton has a good eye! I remember thinking, wow, I’ve never had a couple who had already been married prior to their ceremony and wasn’t 100% how it would be experienced. You would have thought he had seen her for the first time since he deployed. With their children standing there watching an absolutely magical moment of their mom in white and seeing how absolutely in love they still were. Since that moment I told my husband I want to renew our vows every 5 years because I want to feel the way I felt watching how palpable their love remained through all the moments in-between. With a beautifully just-enough-overcast, sky, the true and raw emotion of everyone in attendance, and the heart behind every detail—this day was just what 2019 needed to end in a perfectly tied bow. Call me in another two years for round three. I scoured the internet for a Marine Corps quote and I don’t think I could have found anything more perfect to depict exactly what this day was. “The day someone enters the military, they took a deliberate oath, swearing to protect and defend the United States with their life.” “On their wedding day, in uniform, they are making another absolute vow.” – Amber Chaib ( US Navy Veteran speaking on Military Etiquette).
